What is nail fungus?
Also known as onychomycosis, toenail fungus is a nail disorder that affects over 3 million people in the US each year. It can make nails thick, change their color and shape, make them crumble and break, and can even be painful.
How do we treat nail fungus?
Laser procedures are FDA-cleared for fungus treatment. They use a specific wavelength of light to kill the fungus. It passes through the toenail without damaging the nail or the surrounding skin.
The procedure itself is quite painless. If you have open, sore skin exposed it could create mild discomfort though. The technician passes the laser over each nail on both feet (or hands) to ensure a thorough treatment. Fungus spreads so easily that we want to cover all areas. That's it!! You're on your way out the door like nothing happened!
A follow-up treatment is HIGHLY recommended after 3 months to ensure the regrowth is clean and clear.
